“The Accessibility Exchange” is an online platform designed to assist federally regulated organizations (FROs) in finding and recruiting diverse people with disabilities and Deaf persons and their organizations to participate in consultations about accessibility planning and implementation as required under the Accessible Canada Act. The Exchange provides FROs with a “project planning assistant” to design an accessibility planning engagement process and provides:
- Access to diverse people with disabilities and Deaf persons and their organizations available to participate in planning exercises (e.g., through surveys, online consultations, key informant interviews)
- Links to “community connectors” who can assist FROs in linking to people with disabilities who may be hard to reach – e.g., in northern, rural, and remote communities, Indigenous persons with disabilities, racialized migrant communities
- Connection with “accessibility consultants” who can assist FROs in designing and conducting consultations
- A “Resource Hub” of information tools and links about inclusive accessibility planning and consultations, universal design, and accessibility training modules.
