Last week in Saint John New Brunswick, IRIS hosted a national event that brought diverse Indigenous peoples together from across the country with people with disabilities, d/Deaf people and/or racialized and refugee people.

Through this event we learned about many truths… often difficult to hear. It became clear by the end of our two-day event, that the act of solidarity itself can play a critical role in our journey towards reconciliation.

We bow our heads in prayer and reflection remembering the children who were torn from their families, never to return home and all past and present residential school survivors.
