IRIS joins the disability community in Canada in recognizing National AccessAbility Week in Canada, and call on governments across Canada and the Canadian public to acknowledge the immense contributions of people with disabilities to all facets of life in Canada – economic, political, social, intellectual and cultural.

IRIS is committed to creating spaces where people with disabilities in all their diversity can share their contributions and expertise, and connect with others who also experience exclusion and marginalization.

We understand that the inclusion of one group is bound up with the inclusion of all others because ableism, colonialism, racism and sexism are not separate structures of exclusion and oppression. In recognition of this week, we are pleased to share diverse voices of people with disabilities who are making a difference and helping to imagine the many pathways to a truly inclusive and accessible Canada.
