The Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto and Across Boundaries, in partnership with IRIS, hosted a Community Town Hall in Toronto, ON for IRIS’s Working Together – Combating Structural Violence against Indigenous, Racialized, Migrant Women and Women Labeled with Intellectual and Psychiatric Disabilities initiative on April 13, 2016.
The Working Together initiative brings together populations of women in Canada who face structural violence as well as some of the highest rates of abuse in the country.
Nearly 100 individuals attended the event to initiate a discussion about the experiences of marginalized women with abuse and their multiple barriers to safety.
The interactive event included a series of speakers who are among the most marginalized in our society and those who experience the highest rates of abuse in Canada, including refugee and migrant women, Indigenous women, and women labelled with intellectual and psychiatric disabilities.
